ADDICTED TO YOGA
A Yoga Class.... What is Yoga?
Yoga is many things to many different people: it can be a type of exercise, a way to reduce and manage stress, a modality to heal an injury, or a way of life. Many individuals come to find Yoga because they are looking for a different type of workout—one that will challenge the body physically, but in a way that is non-injurious. And Yoga is a wonderful and safe way to exercise, especially if you are recovering from an injury, or dealing with challenges such as lower back, knee or neck pain. But Yoga is also a lot more than just a great workout.
Breathe and Move
Yoga means "union", and its most fundamental aim is exactly that: to unite the breath with movement. Through a series of poses (called "asanas")and using special breathing awareness and techniques (called "pranayama") you will experience both strengthening and stretching in the muscles, a freeing in the joints, and relaxation both at the physical and mental levels. We invite you to come and practice Yoga whatever your reasons, to play and explore, and to be open to all the benefits that Yoga may bring into your life. There are many different styles of yoga that we offer at ADDICTED TO YOGA including Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga Yoga. We are an Ashtanga Based Yoga studio but also teach and explore Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga.

Stretch or Strengthen? Or Both?
The perception of Yoga tends to lean towards a boring stretching excersise but it can be quite the opposite depending on which class you attend and where you take a Yoga class. Yoga is much more than an excersise, there is no other excersise or sport that concentrates so much on breathing like Yoga does. The breathing allows the mind to get distracted by outside thoughts and allows it to stop and rest. In addition the breathing heats up the body, boils the blood, releases the toxins out of the body, and produces sweat - toning the body and creating a body pure like gold. You can find a more strength building Yoga in one of our Ashtanga or Vinyasa Yoga classes or a more stretching Yoga in our Beginning Yoga classes.
